In Peru one can notice the Asiatic and the Melanesian influence. According to the most authorized opinions, these first inhabitants penetrated into the Peru territory, some of them from the north following the Colombian zone and the others from The Amazonian jungle in the east. These first ones were hunters, fishermen and gatherers; we found the most ancient human remains in Peru in the Region of Lauricocha – Huanuco. These first people according to the carbon dating gave an antiquity of nearly 10,000 years ago. Those are considered the most ancient human remains found in Peru up to now. Recently we found the remains of a big civilization in Caral, where they made pyramids and a perfect urban division with music, textiles and more.
We do have a time of Pre Incas. In South America we had many great civilizations like the Aztecs, the Mayas and of course the Incas who had one of the biggest civilizations of the known world.
The Maya for example developed in the Peninsula of the Yucatan which now belongs to Mexico, but also had a presence in Guatemala as well as parts of Honduras and Belize. It developed within the first centuries of the Christian era, when the Spaniards arrived, this empire had almost disappeared. The Aztecs were conquered by the Spaniards but show evidence of being very good farmers, cultivating principally corn.
We also have the pre Inca times, which is arguably the most beautiful era. The history of the Peruvian people has been persevered by archeological discoveries and other cultural elements. These ancient peoples culture extended over the mountains and to the northern and central coasts of Peru. If you wish to get more information about these areas, let us know and we will be very happy to help.
There was another big culture: the Paracas. This place is considered to be very popular and important because of the recent discovery of mummies. They wrapped dead bodies forming packages of conical shape and the exterior clothes were rustic but the interior were luxurious embroidered mantles.
We can show you more evidence of civilization in the deserts of Nazca. The popular Nazca lines today can still be seen and we offer a cultural tour that will also give you the chance to have some fun sand boarding on the desert dunes.
We also can talk about the Mochica culture or the ancestors of the Incas or the famous Tiahuanaco culture located next to the Titicaca Lake. There is also the Door of the Sun, Akapana fortress and Palace of Kalasasaya. The Tiahuanaco culture had a very artistic ceramic style of ceremonial vases. Some of them are decorated with the heads of animals. They also practiced agriculture farming mainly quinua and potatoes.
Finally, still talking about the Peru populations we have the Inca civilization. Based on the history and remains of these people we have organized most of our trips and treks. If you see the great structures of the Incas you will have a small glimpse into Peru history. The Inca will be the highlights of your trip: Machupicchu, Cusco City, the sacred valley and one of the most popular treks in the world, the Inca trail to Machupicchu.
